The history of the translation of the Bible into the Spanish language is filled with stories of persecuted and courageous men and women of faith. We are honored to offer this beautiful facsimile of the Ferrara Biblia of 1553. This Bible was produced by Yom-Tob ben Levi Athias following the expulsion of the Jews from Spain and printed for Duke Ercole II d'Este of Ferrara, whose wife was a protestant. Later, this version was utilized by the Spanish-speaking Jews during these trying times and was the foundation for the 1569 Casiodoro de Reina translation.
