This masterful image and likeness is consistent throughout this line of tabletop busts, as well as the full size statues of the sculpture series. John Wycliffe led the translation of the Latin Vulgate into a literal version, word-for-word in English.
The Latin text of Saint Jerome is a significant part of the Bible history; although it is not truly in the line of the received text translations that would follow, John Wycliffe, “The Morning Star of the Reformation”, sparked the desire of many to translate the Scriptures into the vernacular languages of the world. Many were moved by his efforts and the obvious need for true text translations.
Because each sculpture is hand-finished rather than mass-produced, there will naturally be some color variation and no two will be exactly alike. This is part of the nature and beauty of handmade objects, and should not be considered a flaw or defect. If you are attempting to match your previous sculpture purchases or have a particular look in mind (more or fewer highlights, for example), please contact us and we will be happy to provide photos of our current inventory so you can select the exact sculpture that will be shipped to you.
