John Rainolds (Reynolds) - Sculpture

This bust, made of marble stone resin and hand-finished with a bronze patina, depicts John Rainolds (Reynolds), who had a significant role in the creation of the King James Version of 1611.

At the death of Elizabeth, her successor was declared to be James the IV of Scotland, a Stuart and a Protestant sympathizer in greater measure than she. England was embroiled in controversy and conflict for the control of the Church, the country, even of the continent. The battle raged over sovereignty- Rome chose the Pope, England the king, but the Protestants embraced Scripture and the sovereign rule of Christ. Out of this turmoil would come a request for one true text translation of the English Bible, so arose John Rainolds (Reynolds), who would ultimately answer the king’s charge and accept the challenge.

Because each sculpture is hand-finished rather than mass-produced, there will naturally be some color variation and no two will be exactly alike. This is part of the nature and beauty of handmade objects, and should not be considered a flaw or defect. If you are attempting to match your previous sculpture purchases or have a particular look in mind (more or fewer highlights, for example), please contact us and we will be happy to provide photos of our current inventory so you can select the exact sculpture that will be shipped to you.
