24" x 36" Poster - John Wycliffe 1380

John Wycliffe, the Morning Star of the reformation and translator of the first English Bible in 1385-1395. Wycliffe translated from the Latin Vulgate translation of Saint Jerome then a millennium old (345-1385). The first edition proved somewhat difficult because of the literal word for word Latin translation, but was greatly enhanced a few years later by his close aid Robert Purvey and reintroduced as a revision. The Bible was handwritten and then embellished by notations and illuminations and was very instrumental in the process of preaching God’s Word to ordinary people.
