From our stunning Heritage Collection comes this framed facsimile of a page from the Gutenberg Bible. Included is a brief biography of Gutenberg and history of this page.
The pages of the Gutenberg Bible were printed with a glossy black ink. Spaces were left for capital letters and headings, and those who purchased the Bibles commissioned artists to illuminate each page with religious miniatures, dragons, peacocks, falcons, and medieval flowers, making each of the original Gutenberg Bibles a unique, individual work of art. The combination of the elegant type and decorative illuminations made the Gutenberg Bible the most beautiful piece of printing ever produced. This facsimile page is derived from the Gutenberg copies at Berlin and Fulda (considered the most beautifully illuminated of all known copies).
The Biblical Heritage Collection contains eighteen facsimile pages of original Bible texts. These precious pages have been lovingly and meticulously reproduced by our skilled technicians. One cannot help but feel an overwhelming debt of gratitude to the men of faith who sacrificed so much to provide us with God’s inspired and preserved Word.
Framed in an attractive and informative format with painstaking attention to detail, each piece presents a brief history of the page itself and the men responsible for its translation.
