John Rainolds - Sculpture (table top size)

At the death of Elizabeth, her successor was declared to be James the IV of Scotland, a stuart and a Protestant sympathizer in greater measure than she. England was embroiled in controversy and conflict for the control of the Church, the country, even of the continent. The battle raged over sovereignty- Rome chose the Pope, England the king, but the Protestants embraced Scripture and the sovereign rule of Christ. Out of this turmoil would come a request for one true text translation of the English Bible, so arose John Reynolds (also spelled Rainolds), who would ultimately answer the king’s charge and accept the challenge.
